Rev. Wendy Brown will explain the importance of advanced directives and why we use them in healthcare to make decisions on behalf of a patient. She will discuss how they get used in real time situations. We will briefly familiarize ourselves with the document that is used at Bozeman Health and talk about advanced directives that are used in specific circumstances: the POLST, the advanced directive for dementia, and psychiatric directives. This discussion is appropriate for people who have not yet filled out an advanced directive, as well as those who already have a document on file.
